    Job Summary

    A Lehighton Ford Mechanic/Technician must be a self driven, hardworking individual. The selected individual will be expected to accomplish all objectives by supporting the values, philosophies and policies of Lehighton Ford. The ideal candidate will have proficiency in the ability to work efficiently and effectively, to ensure the performance of the service department as a whole. The individual will report directly to the Service Manager in the department. Pay is highly competitive based on skill and experience. Candidates should submit a resume and references.

    Job Description

    • Perform quality repair and maintenance work, including oil changes, tire work, and other needed maintenance items, that meets dealership and manufacturer standards.
    • Inspect vehicles and diagnose cause of any malfunction so that necessary repairs can be made.
    • Road-test vehicles (both before and after repair) when required.
    • Clearly write and quickly communicate needed repairs/maintenance and the parts and time needed to repair.
    • Clearly communicate with others in order to obtain needed parts in an efficient manner.
    • Explain mechanical diagnoses and required repairs in a non-technical manner to service advisors and customers.
    • Provide labor and time estimates for additional automotive repairs.
    • Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
    • Other duties may be assigned according to expertise and certifications.
    • Ensure that customers' cars are kept clean
    • Keep shop area neat and be able to account for all dealership-owned tools at all time.
    • Learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions to keep up with rapidly changing technology.
    • Attend sponsored training classes.
    • Understand and follow federal, state and local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous waste.
    • Follow all company safety policies and procedures, and immediately report any and all accidents to a manager or supervisor
    • Technician will perform vehicle repairs within their current capability/skill level.
    • In depth examination of any vehicle under current supervision, to determine if any safety or service work is needed or recommended.
    • Clearly documents and records work that is performed on the repair order under his/her supervision.
    • Effectively communicate with the designated Service Manager or Advisor when the above adjustments and additional work is needed.
    • Road tests vehicles when required or refers to the test technician / Service Manager.
    • Ability to perform any additional related duties as required and assigned by Service Manager.

    Qualifications 

    • Possess working knowledge of shop equipment such as wheel and tire equipment, alignment system, diagnostic equipment, A/C equipment, etc.
    • Possess the ability to be analytical and multi-task.
    • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience as an Automotive Mechanic/Technician.
    • A valid PA driver's license.
    • A CLEAN DRIVING RECORD IS A MUST!!
    • Ford factory certification preferred but we will consider any OEM and ASE certified technicians.
    • Technician must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficiency in the use of common mechanic shop tools.
    • Ability to bend, move, lift and physically perform duties in the scope of this position.
